Hoping for some more content! Keep up the goo work. This game is fun and unique. It reminds me of classic strategy games like ogre battle or soul nomad & the world eaters. If you like jp style strategy game, you gonna love this game. But It still in early access so the content still limited and have lots of bugs too. It may take some time untill it get full release.. I really like the concept of the game. The graphics are well done. A lot of strategic options when it comes to forming lances.Multiple classes are something to adore. The game has great potential, but yet needs much polishing. It has currently a good number of game breaking bugs that i wish the developers would look unto soon. But overall, this is a thumbs up for me.. So it's good but could be better. The main satisfaction of this game is leveling up your characters and making your lances. On the battlefield, you don't control individual characters. Instead, you assign them outside of battle to "lances" which essentially act a single unit on the field of battle.A lance might contain a mage, a warrior, and a healer type. And when you attack or defend, each of those characters will do their jobs. You can specialize and make an all melee lance, all ranged attack lance, etc., but I've found in general it's best to make all of them have a few melee, few ranged, and some sort of healer. The game is very very grindy and the combat is decent. It gets a bit repetitive and is not super tactical. In fact it is extremely easy. As long as you take a bit of time to level your party on the armies scattered across each map, you will never have any trouble. And if you enjoy this game, that is what you will do, because that's where the satisfaction comes from. Because of the plethora of characters and classes at your disposal, you basically get to level someone (often multiple units) up after each battle. And leveling them and outfitting them is the fun part of the game. The story is not good. It's very linear. Each area has the tried and true "Are you sure you want to continue? You won't be able to come back" trope. The main characters are annoying. They talk about how God is on their side constantly. At one point one of the protagonists made everyone stop so they could say a prayer. Very early in the game you have to catch a bandit - when you meet him he explains that he is against the monarchy and just wants to give some wealth to the downtrodden people, and says you are the bad guy. And your protagonist say you aren't because God wants you to rule everyone basically. I was kind of with the bandit. The game has a crafting system but it doesn't do a great job of steering you into using it too often. For instance, I have tons of mats for certain items (and unit summons) but don't have the recipes. And you have to find certain nodes to make the items\/units, which are not always readily available. This could be streamlined a bit. There are usually ingredients you get from battles, like iron ore, but then you might also need coal, which you buy from vendors, at which point you go ok, this is getting tedious, I'll just buy all my gear.*Despite all this, YES I recommend it! The grinding and leveling and gearing up your units is very satisfying.* I hope the devs iron out and streamline some of the issues (there are some UI and QoL tweaks that would go a long way which I didn't get into - plus make the crafting system better). I doubt the story will get any better, but I can live with that.. UI is a bit clunky, but once you get used to it this game is a lot of fun. Can't wait to see how this game progresses in the future, Its going in an amazing direction.. UI is a bit clunky, but once you get used to it this game is a lot of fun. Can't wait to see how this game progresses in the future, Its going in an amazing direction.. I've been lazy writing a review for this but my god its like being 12 again. It just has this... old school feeling, not the fake retreaux you see a lot, it really hits all those fundamentals: budget yet beautiful graphics, a grind that you have fun doing, customization out the wazoo that's completely optional, and the paper dolls, oh god dude YES! The maps too are all intricately detailed, i feel like i can know every street corner in this game. To top it all off, the story here is VERY good. I usually give plot a pass as something that just helps keep a game going but man, this is on top of it, and keeps with the old school feeling, though with a modern fantasy twist. The attention to detail on countries and ethnicities is an interesting reflection of actual peoples and cultures, and then take that backdrop and add onto it an action packed drama full of demons, undead, magic knights, and all the other awesome fantasy crap you can think of and BAM! You have a plot! to top all this off, the game is moddable, later when all is said and done, users can make their own campaigns and stories based on this really awesome engine. I can't recommend enough man.. Pros- A game that is very similar to old Final Fantasy games one phase, and in army management and wars its alot like Ogre Battle MOTBK. Its fun and addicting, and the battles have an epic feel to them. 100s of characters, items, classes, and secrets to uncover. Various landscapes and a massive world to explore, and best of all, HUGE armies made up of individual characters. You make squads of 12 (I think, I didnt count lol) that act as a unit, and have 100s of characters on the field at a time. The game is dripping with promise. Enviroments are beautiful, exploration is fun. The lead developer is friendly and very earnest, and works hard to fix problems and add content. You can tell just by talking with him, that this is a work of love. And that is sorely missing among many of todays cash grabbing types of developers. Its a nice change of pace and a callback to when developers cared about thier game more then thier profits.Cons- Portraits are ok, but bland and I think they take away some of the experience, I really hope an artist comes on the scene or someone else can find an artist who will fix that. ALL battles should have rousing music. Some of it just doesnt fit the conflicts (but this is nit-picking, as most of it is spot on) sprites are a little stiff, but start growing on you with old school charm as they change appearance with equipment. A few bugs, but still playable in the early state its in. Perma death for characters adds another level of tension in a good way.Overall- A developer and a project worth backing. We dont get them this good in this genre very often, and its been a LONG time since anyone has done a "All your rpg characters are your army" game like Ogre Battle or Dark wizard did. And my friends on here know I am lazy, and only write reviews if I really love a game, or hate it and need to warn you away (I am looking at YOU telepath tactics aka crashathon!) . And one worth watching closely if you dont do EA. There is already alot to do in its current state though. If the portraits were fixed, the story a bit more polished and fleshed out, and the bugs tweaked I'd say we are looking at the next Kickstarter hit.
